Welcome to Neural Playground (listed on the App Store as NeuralPlayground), an educational iOS app that teaches how neural networks and machine learning work through small models that really run on your device. These Terms of Use (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and the developer of Neural Playground ("we", "us", or "the developer") and govern your use of the app and of this website at neural-playground-55r.pages.dev (together, the "app"). Please read them.
By downloading, installing, or using Neural Playground you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the app.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Neural Playground on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial learning. You agree that you will not, and will not permit anyone else to:
Neural Playground is an educational product. Its lessons, visualisations, and interactive activities exist to build real intuition about how machine learning behaves. The networks in the app are deliberately tiny so that every number on screen is something the machine actually computed, including the times it fails.
They are teaching instruments, not production systems, and the app says so wherever the difference matters. While we work hard to keep the content accurate, the app is a learning aid and not a substitute for formal study, professional instruction, or academic credentials, and nothing in it is professional, academic, medical, legal, or investment advice.
Neural Playground offers a free experience and an optional paid upgrade. The first two chapters are free, permanently. An auto-renewable subscription called NeuralPlayground Premium unlocks the remaining eight chapters — including the interactive labs in The Lab — and the Deep Dive packs.
Prices are shown in U.S. dollars. The price actually charged in your region and currency, including any applicable taxes, is the price displayed in the App Store at the time of purchase, and it may vary by territory. The current price is always shown in the app before you buy.
Both plans offer a 7-day free trial to new subscribers. Eligibility is determined by Apple, not by us, and the app advertises a trial only when Apple confirms your device is eligible for it. If you buy a subscription during a trial, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited.
Auto-renewal disclosure
You may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Premium access until then. To cancel, on your device open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → NeuralPlayground and turn off auto-renewal or cancel.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by the developer. Because every purchase is processed through the App Store, refund requests are subject to Apple's policies and must be made to Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot process refunds directly, but we are glad to help you find your way there — write to us.
The app and what is in it — its lessons, text, artwork, animations, interface, code, trained model weights, and the "NeuralPlayground" name — belong to the developer or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property law. Except for the limited licence in section 2, no rights are transferred to you, and you may not use our name, logo, or branding without prior written permission.
The teaching ideas behind the lessons are, of course, public knowledge — the field's, not ours — and we cite our sources inside the app where a lesson follows a particular lecture's arc.
When using Neural Playground, you agree that you will not:
THE APP AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT THE EDUCATIONAL CONTENT IS COMPLETE, CURRENT, OR FREE OF ERROR. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE APP. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) WHAT YOU PAID FOR THE APP OR SUBSCRIPTION IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) US$5.00. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Neural Playground is licensed, not sold, to you. Because it is delivered through the App Store, your use is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (the "Apple Standard EULA"). Where these Terms conflict with the Apple Standard EULA regarding your use of the app, the Apple Standard EULA governs that conflict.
These Terms are between you and the developer only, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, may enforce them against you.
We may update these Terms, for example to reflect new features, pricing, or legal requirements. The current version always lives on this page with its date, and material changes will be highlighted where reasonably possible. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the law of the developer's place of residence, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection law where you live provides otherwise. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have as a consumer under the law that applies to you.
